We’re only a few months into President Trump’s first term, and the media’s coverage has been negative to an unprecedented level. Often, the coverage is hyperbolic: “we’re no longer a democracy” because Trump won, or “the world is going to burn up in fire” because the President exited an environmental accord, Trump is Hitler, etc.
I show some examples in this post.
We are no longer a sovereign nation
“We are no longer a sovereign nation. We are no longer a democracy. We are no longer a free people. We are the victims of a bloodless coup.”
Trump will attempt a Hitler-like coup
“Donald Trump will have his own version of Hitler’s Reichstag fire to expand his power and take full control of the government”, claims Levin.
But we’re not done yet! Trump speaks like Hitler, too.
“The way that [Trump] used the language, the blunt repetitions, the naming of the enemies, the physical removal of opponents from rallies, that was really, without exaggeration, just like the 1920s and the 1930s.”
No one will care about your kids now that Trump is President
May 13, 2017 – Michelle Obama The government under Donald Trump no longer cares about your children. Why? Because Trump rolled back Obama’s school lunch regulations.
“Moms, think about this…think about why someone is OK with your kids eating crap, because here’s the secret: If somebody is doing that, they don’t care about your kid and we need to demand everyone to care deeply about our kids.”
Trump will cause sleepless nights for the poor and elderly
May 27, 2017 – Newsweek Trump will cause more sleepless nights, especially for poor people. How? Because of global warming…and Trump…and, uh, NOT MY PRESIDENT!
Trump is going to destroy planet earth
June 1, 2017 – Huffington Post The front page of the leftist Huffington Post shows the world burning up in fire! President Trump is going to destroy the planet!
Trump will turn Antarctica green, collapse a key ice shelf, and erase the California coast
Trump’s decision to leave the year-old Paris Accords will turn the Antarctic green! Key ice shelves will collapse! California will disappear! THE END IS NIGH!
Trump doomed the planet; this could be it
“I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that Donald Trump may have doomed the planet, or the fact that he announced it like it’s an episode of ‘The Bachelorette.’”
Noah continued prophesying through doomsday secular armageddon cult: “We all joke about Trump destroying the world, but this could be it!”
Got more hyperbole from the media? Add it in the comments. I’ll be updating this post over the next few years with the assumption of continuing alarmism and hyperbole.
It’ll be informative to look back on after 4 years. (Or 8, should the hyperbole and corresponding public distrust of the media continue.)
