Ki Tetse – Echoes Through Scripture

[This was written by Tabernacle of David teacher Ryan White, and was originally posted at Rooted In Torah.]

Torah Portion Ki Tetse

Deuteronomy 21:10 – 25:19

This year we will be going through the Torah portion cycle looking for themes which occur in each Torah portion that recurs throughout the rest of Scripture with a special focus on connecting them to the Apostolic Writings (New Testament).

In Ki Tetse, we will discuss Deuteronomy 24:1-4 and its usage throughout Scripture. We will connect it with Yeshua’s discussion on divorce and remarriage in Matthew 19 (and other locations) and how it is vital for us to understand the cultural context and the discussions going on within the various Judaisms in the first century. This topic is hotly debated and very emotional. My intent is to provide some background information and resources to better help you to understand the Bible’s instructions on divorce and remarriage.
