In the Wilderness

Matthew 3 – 4

A voice crying: “In the wilderness, prepare the way of the Lord!” Why was this message so powerful that it attracted people from all over Judea to come out into the wilderness to listen to it, and then be baptized for the forgiveness of sins? Did you know that first-century Jews considered themselves to still be under the curse of exile for their sins that had started with the capture of Jerusalem by the Babylonians? This portion of Matthew is key to understanding why the Jews were looking for a messiah so much at that point in history and helps us better understand Yeshua’s mission.

The Messianic Gospel Cycle is a series studying the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Acts from a Messiah-centered perspective. The cycle is divided up into 52 portions and is designed to be read over the course of a year. You can download the reading plan here.
