Most recently. well known Christian apologist and theologian William Lane Craig and theologian Gregory Boyd discussed the doctrine of the atonement and specifically whether penal substitution is biblical. This discussion was on the Unbelievable show. Dr. Craig has a new book on the atonement.

If you have not kept up on the atonement, here are some of the different views on the topic. As Craig notes, his view can be seen as compatible with the other views of the atonement which I discuss on the chart here.
