This was the clip from our weekly apologetics meeting. Here, we discuss the role of data, using inferential reasoning, and then coming to a proper judgment in relation to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Inferential reasoning is drawing a conclusion or making a logical judgment based on circumstantial evidence or indirect evidence rather than based on direct observation. Much of history and science is based making inductive or abductive inferences. The goal is not absolute certainty. So when people complain about the lack of evidence or say they want “proof” for the resurrection of Jesus, they generally need to be educated about the role of inferential reasoning.
